| "Father, You Believed (Iglesias Vocal)" | |
| Vocals: Henry Iglesias, Elly K Catman says: "I wanted to dedicate my first two CD's to my late father, who was such an important factor in my life insofar as opportunities presented me. That is not to diminish my mother's importance but, since she is still alive, I have been able to show her the kind of appreciation that I could not show my late father. Although I feel compelled sometimes to sing my own songs, at least the ones that have special meaning to me, I am fully aware that I am not a particularly good singer. I have no illusions about that -- and that is why I like to utilize far superior vocal talents when I write songs that are screaming for REAL singers. Yet, because of its special meaning, my FATHER song provoked me to violate that rule -- and on my first CD, I sang the FATHER song even though I knew I would have trouble handling the necessary vocal range. I simply felt compelled because the song is a personal confession of tremendous importance. I had to sing it, even though I suspected it might result in much derision or even laughter aimed my way. But I have one more confession to make: I so much prefer Henry Iglesias's vocal interpretation to my own. With Russian songstress, Elly K, providing the dreamy background...with George Englund playing Sax in his superb, expressive manner...it is the kind of sensitive, sweet, beautiful interpretation that, when played for even the toughest of men, has made them cry right in front of me." | |
