Catman says:

"I made a trip to Vancouver during a most depressing period in my life when I was being evaluated for possible cancer. Inspired by the beautiful city and its most congenial citizens, I thought I might move there and spend the rest of my life in "the beauty by the sea." So I began the process of finding a place and, after some searching, I was ready to sign an apartment lease. However, my brother, who is a longtime Vancouver resident, had sharp words with me and, feeling extremely disillusioned, I decided I would return to California rather than intrude upon the space of my "brother's town."

I always thought of Vancouver as a female kind of place and, in leaving her, I felt as though I were saying good-bye to a special lover of mine, somebody who could soothe all my pains if only I would stay. Yet, I still imagine that, someday, somehow, I might return there and make her mine.

There are several vocal versions of this song, including a high testosterone version by Henry Iglesias and one by myself. In our respective versions, the song runs almost five minutes since it features an extended solo by guitarist-wizard, James Lum. I actually think that it is one of James Lum's best guitar performances to date, but we cut the song length in order to make it more radio-friendly.

I found neo-Goth sensation Molly Zenobia at a nightclub just shortly after she moved to LA. She is one of the most passionate, young, female pianists you will ever hear and her voice has a haunting, sexy timbre that feels otherworldly. Because of its mostly rainy, gloomy weather, Vancouver always felt like a Goth town to me -- and I thought it would be much more intriguing and erotic if the piece became a love song, from one Goth woman to another."
