I had heard the song several times before since it had become a party favorite in LA. But that particular night, I somehow blocked out the music and only focused on the words. Then I had an epiphany and I realized that, in terms of lyrics, this is actually a gut-wrenching, tormented, love song... and, to this day, I am willing to bet that, in its original form, it was probably created as a very serious song....and some creative producer probably decided that it would have greater youth appeal if it were given a "sexy, party feeling." Well, Henry Iglesias and I decided to re-make the song and return it to Heroin Den where we think it probably first sprung."
