"Father, You Believed"
:[ info ]:
Vocals: Catman Cohen, Elly K

Catman says:

"This is one of my favorite songs. I wrote the middle instrumental many years back, about six months following the death of my father, and he is the inspiration for that piece. Then, a couple of years ago, I was thinking about my father and just how much I owe to him in terms of the opportunities presented me in life...and my genuine regrets that I was such a rebel in my youth and failed to show him the appreciation he deserved. And I'll never forget discussing the song with a notable music producer one day. He became enraged, almost shouting in my face as he declared, "Don't you understand that, in our business, we sell records to kids and most kids hate their fathers???? Why don't you change the lyrics and make it a song about a dead girlfriend so that it will have some commercial potential with the kids????" I looked him dead in the eye and said, "Listen, I wrote this song about my late father and there is NO amount of money anybody could pay me to change its theme."
