LOTUS is the first solo album by musician/producer Abie Toiber. It was recorded in April 2004 at TOCA75 studios (Home). Drums for the album were recorded at El Submarino del Aire with recording engineer Eduardo del Aguila (La Barranca) in Mexico City. In June, it was mixed by Mark Plati (musician, engineer, producer of artists such as David Bowie, The Cure, and Robbie Williams) at The Looking Glass studios (Phillip?s Glass studios) and Alice?s Restaurant studios in New York City. LOTUS was mastered by Emily Lazar at The Lodge, NYC. (Some of their clients include: Lou Reed, David Bowie, Sonic Youth, The Prodigy, Putumayo World Music and many others). LOTUS has been an independent production- all the music in the album was composed and produced by Abie Toiber. About Abie Toiber Musician, Producer, born June 19, 1975 in Mexico City. In junior high he began to take guitar lessons and formed his first band shortly after. In 1993, after finishing high school, he studied at the Musicians Institute (GIT) in Los Angeles, California. There he met other Mexican musicians and formed the rock/pop band ?Coma?. In 1995 EMI Music signed the band and they released ?Antes de que existiera el tiempo? (Before Time Existed). For two years Coma toured the country of Mexico sharing the stage with the most successful local bands as well as the biggest bands from Spain. In 1998 after COMA broke up, Abie started producing demos for a solo album. (Which now, after a six-year labor of love, has become LOTUS.) That same year, 1998, he enrolled at Mexico City?s University of Communications (UDEC) and earned a degree in Advertising. Since 2001 he has collaborated with the electronic pop group Morbo (www.morbo.com.mx). He has also produced remixes for various artists, music for independent films, jingles, and recently released the track ?Eject? along with DJ D-Tek (David Durst) in ?PSYCOMEX? , a compilation CD of Mexican trance released by AP Records in Berlin, Germany.
